Jason Lowe

Jason Lowe is the Director of Access Network Engineering at Clearcable Networks. He started his career with Communication Engineering Services (Maclean Hunter) in 1993 doing HFC network design. Jason moved to Rogers Engineering in 1995 and worked in various positions eventually playing a major role in the DOCSIS portion of the Rogers High Speed Internet and VoIP deployments. He moved to Clearcable Networks in 2006 where he is responsible for access network architectural direction and design for small to mid-market cable systems in both Canada and the United States. Jason has recently deployed DOCSIS 3.0 for systems in both Canada and the US. He is also a member of the SCTE IPS 5 (RFoG) working group. Jason is a graduate of Niagara College's Electronics Engineering Technology program, majoring in Communications Systems and Micro Electronics.


Eric Goulden

Eric Goulden's career in the communications industry spans 39 years, where he has held progressively senior technical positions with Cable TV MSO's in both Nova Scotia and Ontario. In the early 1990's Eric launched TELONIX Communications Inc., a national distribution and rep organization specializing in test equipment and hardware. Eric is currently President of TELONIX, headquartered in Aurora, Ontario, Canada.

"The SCTE has been with me my entire career" states Eric. "It has played an integral role in my development." Goulden has served in various positions including President of the Ontario SCTE. He has presented papers and actively participates in most SCTE meetings and functions.

TELONIX plays an active roll in the SCTE (Ontario) Games and table tops on vendor days. "While all this is important, I believe the networking and social functions keep us coming back. "I enjoy participating in the new technologies which continue to change the way we do business. I would very much like to give something back to an industry that has given me so much. I thrive helping others to expand their personal development through a strong SCTE. Changes in technology and the need for information have never been greater.

It would be my honor to serve on the SCTE board once again.


CHRIS MACFARLANE

Mr. MacFarlane is currently the Vice President Corporate Engineering at Cogeco. In this role has overall responsibility for all Engineering functions. This includes outside plant, network and services engineering for all products (high-speed Internet, Digital Cable, CATV and Digital Voice).

Mr. MacFarlane joined Cogeco in 1999 as Director, IP Operations for the Cogeco Cable Ontario Division to manage the core IP network and technical relationship with @Home. Early successes included the introduction of commercial high-speed Internet services.

In June of 2000, he moved to Engineering and promoted to Vice-president, IP & Transport Services. In this role Chris successfully converted customers back from the then bankrupt Excite@Home and introduced the foundations for todays advanced optical and IP networks.

In November 2005, he was appointed Vice-president, Engineering for Ontario and assuming responsibility for all Engineering functions in the region. This, in addition to his current IP & Transport functions, added responsibility for outside plant and CATV services.Throughout his career Mr. MacFarlane has worked at various technology and telecommunication companies, namely NCR Canada in logistics and distribution. Later he owned and operated a successful telecommunication company working in the business telephone sector. Thereafter, he joined AT&T Canada (ACC Telenterprises) serving in various capacities culminating with the introduction and operation their first IP and data communications network and later participated in merger and acquisition activity.

Mr. Macfarlane holds an MBA from Queens University and is a graduate of Humber College


Joseph Ciccone, C.E.T.

Joe Ciccone began his career in the communications industry in 1975 and worked as a Cable Television Installer for Maclean Hunter Cable TV. Joe quickly progressed through various technical and managerial positions for Maclean Hunter, Graham Cable and Rogers Cable. Mr. Ciccone is the President/Owner of Wirecomm North Inc, a communications contractor with offices in the Simcoe area as well as the GTA. Joe has published a technical paper, is a certified member of OACETT and currently serves as the Vice Chair in York Region. In addition, Joe is a member of the York Region Education Committee and the York Region Science Tech Fair Committee.

“I have a passion for new technologies and opportunities. The SCTE is definitely the platform through which everyone can gain friendship, knowledge and business opportunities. It would give me great pleasure to serve on the SCTE board to share my ideas and to assist in any way I can.”


Vaughn

Vaughn started his career in the Telecommunications industry with Bell Canada in 1968 as a linesman placing cable and cutting in equipment for the cable companies in Toronto. In 1974 he transferred to Newfoundland Telephone as a Line and Splicing Foreman responsible for crews in Central Newfoundland and all of Labrador.

In 1976 Cable TV was first introduced to Newfoundland and Vaughn was approached to be General Manager of one of the first cable companies on the island. He was responsible building all the cable system from the construction of cable office to building the system from the headend to the subscriber.

In 1981 Vaughn returned to Ontario and worked for a contracting company responsible for all the service and maintenance for Classicom Cable, licensed to serve all customers from Stoffville to Woodbridge North of Steels Avenue. He was one of four maintenance staff responsible for 5 AML microwave hops, headend and amplifier cascades up to 30 deep.

In 1987 he was approached by Cabletel, one of the largest CATV distributors, to be part of their technical team responsible to support the sales staff for all of Canada. This gave him the opportunity to travel and meet cable operators from coast to coast. During this time he advanced to Product Manager and then to District Sales Manager for Ontario. In 2004 Cabletel was purchased by Power and Tel where he continues today supporting the same customers.

Vaughn has been a member of the SCTE for over 20 year and served as Director in the Ontario Chapter for three years.
